The Spanish conductor Martín Baeza-Rubio, born in Almansa, has received many appointments, prizes and distinctions as a trumpet player, conductor and recognition for his cultural and educative work in Spain and the rest of the world. The press praises him with a great future as an orchestra conductor. The newspaper “El País”, wrote in the Classic Music section about him: “… (Martín Baeza-Rubio) is one of our talents and he conduct with an enthusiasm, power and admirable musicality”.
After all his extraordinary orchestral experiences, he studied Orchestra Conducting with the prestigious  conductor and Professor Jorma Panula, renowned as one of the best pedagogues in the world. His personal relationship with Claudio Abbado, with whom he worked with for countless projects from 1996 until 2014, made also an incredible impression on him.
As General Director and Musical Director of the “Berlin Opera Chamber Orchestra” since 2013 (the ensemble in which he made his Berlin Philarmonic Hall Debut), Music Director of the “Kammerensemble Modern der Deutsche Oper Berlin” since 2004,  he has been able to do an extraordinary amount of work for the diffusion of the contemporary music around Europe, especially in Germany and Spain. He made his debut in the Vienna´s Musikverein in 2008 with that Ensemble. He is also the General, Artistic and Musical Director of the International Music Festival in Almansa since 2009.

Martín Baeza-Rubio has recently conducted in Switzerland, with Theatre Basel, with a great public and press success.  He conducted eleven performances of the opera Don Pasquale by Donizetti, and participated in the preparation of the opera Daphne by R. Strauss. Baeza-Rubio recently celebrated a great success with his conducting of the Spanish opera “Curro Vargas” by Chapí at the “Teatro de la Zarzuela” in Madrid with the “Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid”, continuing at the  “Teatro Calderón” in Valladolid with the “Orquesta Clásica Europea” and also at the “Teatro Campoamor” in Oviedo with the “Orquesta Oviedo Filarmonía” and the “Capilla Ponfónico Ciudad de Oviedo”.  This production won the honor of being the “Production of the year” in Spain.

He conducted with great success the “Menndelsohnn Kammerorchester” in the “Gewandhaus” from Leipzig, the “Brass and Percussion Group from the Lucerne Festival Orchestra” in Lucerne, the “Longwood Symphony Orchestra” in Boston, the “Filarmónica Toscanini” (which he prepared for different concerts), the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin (he prepared the Symphonic Poem “Dulcinea”), the “Ruse Filarmonic” from Ruse, in Bulgaria, the “Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra” in Russia, etc…
His interest in humanistic formation inspired him to pursue a Doctoral Studies in Sciences and History of Music in the Autonomous University of Madrid. In November 2003, he was unanimously awarded the First Prize in the “Third edition of the International Competition of Musical Investigation” organized by the University from the Basque Country and the Donostiarra Orfeon with his Investigation Work about the Maestro Enrique Fernández Arbós.
He is a member of the Corps of Teachers for Music and Stages Arts from the Ministry of Education and Culture from Spain (now on leave).
He finished his Trumpet studies in the “Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid” with the First Prize of Honor. He was in the Karajan Foundation of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1999 till 2002. In 2002, he won the position of the first solo trumpet in the “Deutsche Oper Berlin”.  He was also a member of the “Lucerne Festival Orchestra” (2003-2013). He recorded for Cinema, Radio and Television in more than 20 countries and has participated in the recording of more than 100 CDs and DVDs.. He has taught in many Courses, Conferences, Masterclasses, etc...for all Europe, Asia and America.
He has played concerts in the more famous and important concert halls and Festivals in the world, with prestigious conductors like Abbado, Prêtre, Haitink, Maazel, Rattle, Runnicles, Boulez, Thielemann, Osawa, Baremboim, Masur, Mehta, Jansons, Welser-Möst, Chailly, Harnoncourt, Wand, Gergiev, Nagano, Sanderling, Zinman, Fischer, Menuhin, Salonen, Rostropovich, Temirkanov, Harding, Norrington, Marriner, etc…

In 2015 Baeza-Rubio will conduct three performances of the Spanish opera La del Soto del Parral by Soutullo and Vert in the Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla with the “Real Orchestra Symphony of Seville” and the “Coro de la Maestranza”, and eleven performances in the “Teatro de la Zarzuela” of Madrid with the “Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid” and the “Choir of the Teatro de la Zarzuela”.

In the near future, he has different opera engagements and concerts coming up with different orchestras from Europe, Asia and South America.
